The Geological Society of Gothenburg was founded in February 1981. At the present time the society has about 150 members.
The Geological Society of Gothenburg is open for everybody interested in Geology and related subjects.

Every month (except June to August) we have lectures for the members.
These are normally the first Monday in the month.  

We also arrange fieldtrips to different kinds of locations such as mines and quarries to study and collect interesting minerals and rock samples. Sometimes we collect fossils. We also travel to interesting areas to see how the geological procedures  formed the landscape.  

Every year in April the society arranges the international Gem and mineral Show in Gothenburg. The show is arranged in the Frölundaborg Sport Arena close to the beautiful park of Slottsskogen. The show is one of the biggest in Scandinavia. 

The newsletter: Bumlingen: ("The big stone"- in English) is distributed to members four times a year. 

The club premises are situated at Fjällgatan 18, there we also have a big collection of minerals and rock samples.
We also have a library and machines for cutting/polishing stones. The phone number to the club premises is: 031-421073.
